Ludwig van Beethoven

Fantasy for Piano, Soloists, Choir + Orchestra c-minor Op. 80 (1808)

Fantasy for Piano, Soloists, Choir + Orchestra c-minor Op. 80 (1808)

Based on an orchestrated piano fantasy, this work is considered an important preliminary stage on Beethoven's path to the 9th symphony. The choral finale picks up on his song "Gegenliebe" (WoO 118), written as early as 1795, which already contains essential features of the later Ode to Joy in the choral finale of the 9th symphony.
