Ludwig van Beethoven

Romance cantabile Frag. WoO 207 (1792)

Romance cantabile e-moll for Harpsichord, Flute, Basson with accompagniment of 2 Oboes and Strings WoO 207

The fragment, written around 1792, ranks between a large chamber music and a small chamber orchestra with solos. The work was probably composed in Bonn before Beethoven left for Haydn in Vienna at the end of 1792. At the court of the 'Kurfürsten' of Bonn, Beethoven had been since 1782 beside his Teacher C.G.Neefe involved in court music as a violist and harpsichord, what might explain why the young Beethoven scores an more or less outdated instrument like the Harpsichord in this pieces.
